Application process

Send your completed application form to hr@nam.ac.uk

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to acknowledge receipt (unless specifically requested) or provide information on why an applicant has not been shortlisted. Therefore, if you have not heard back from us within two weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application has been unsuccessful. However, we are grateful for the interest you have shown.

If your application is successful, we will invite you in for an informal discussion so that we can get to know each other a little bit, explore the role you have applied for, and discuss any other opportunities that might be available to you. If you are unsure about any of the roles, we can offer you a taster session so that you can decide if the role is suitable, without any further commitment from you.

Where we are unable to accommodate all volunteer applications, we will do our best to signpost you to other volunteering opportunities and organisations.

All volunteers will undergo a full induction and training programme, either prior to or at the beginning of the placement, and you will receive regular one-to-one support from a dedicated and trained volunteer supervisor throughout the placement.

Reasonable out-of-pocket travel and lunch expenses are paid.

The National Army Museum gratefully acknowledges the help of volunteers whose time, energy and skills benefit our work and help us to achieve our mission.

Our relationship with volunteers is one of mutual benefit, responsibility and commitment. Volunteering is also an important part of our access strategy providing another level of access to collections and services.

Volunteering brings educational, developmental and/or social benefits to volunteers and is often an integral and important part of early career development in the sector.

Our aim is to expand the opportunities for volunteering to offer a wide range of roles across the Museum that will require different levels of skills, experience and suitability.
