Discover the story of the Princess Mary Gift Tin in this festive First World War activity.
The Princess Mary Gift Tin was given to soldiers serving at Christmas during the First World War in 1914 as a present from the Royal Family. Princess Mary was the daughter of the King and wanted to do something special for all serving in the Armed Forces.
355,000 boxes were delivered in time for 25 December and each tin contained different things including tobacco, chocolate, sweets, spices and a message from the King himself!
