Operation Robot (Coding Mission)

School children working with Dash robots

Explore the power of robots to solve challenges. Test your coding and communication skills by getting hands-on experience.

Can you use your computing skills to program a robot to complete an important mission?

Explore how robotic devices are used by the Army to support the work of soldiers. Work together in small teams to complete coding challenges using block-coding to program Dash robots.

Learners will develop their skills in computational thinking, while applying and using logical reasoning to create algorithms based on sequencing and selection. They will have the chance to debug, decompose and refine their commands to ensure they are successful in solving the missions.

This session is 60 minutes long and includes:

  • Hands-on coding
  • Maths skills including probability, and measuring lengths and angles
  • Problem solving
  • Group discussion
  • Team working
  • Historic photographs
  • Gallery visit and trails (optional)

Curriculum areas:
