About Hand & Lock

The long history of Hand & Lock can be traced back to 1767. They started out manufacturing lace for military tailors, as well as designing and manufacturing military badges and uniform accoutrements. The brand quickly became a trusted name used by both Savile Row and military tailors. More than 200 years later, they are still involved in making uniforms for the British Army.

Today, Hand & Lock are no longer just craftsmen and women, but also teachers and promoters of the fine art of embroidery. With a long heritage to protect and timeless craft to preserve, the team now operate classes around the world, teaching the traditional skills of embroidery and showcasing quality British craftsmanship. They have been running workshops at the National Army Museum for over two years.
