War artist Jules George will give a guided tour of our War Paint exhibition, in which his work is featured.
During this special one-hour tour, Jules will take you around the exhibition and discuss what it’s like to be a war artist.
Jules George has extensive experience as a war artist. In February 2010 he visited Afghanistan, officially sanctioned and sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. Subsequently, he has made trips to sea with the Royal Navy on operational deployments to the Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean, Falkland Islands and Atlantic.
Operating as non-combatants in some of the most dangerous environments in the world, war artists face a variety of challenges. Here, we take a look at how they overcome these difficulties.
Britain's most recent war in Afghanistan began in the wake of the '9/11' terrorist attacks on the United States. It continued for 13 years with the last combat troops leaving the country on 26 October 2014.
