Calligraphy Workshop: Soldiers’ Letters

Calligraphy workshop equipment
Discover the art of calligraphy in this one-day workshop led by expert teacher Rosana Fulford.

From the early days of ancient scribes to Shakespeare penning his famous works, the skill of calligraphy has often been prized.

Get hands-on at our one-day workshop and learn the basics of this elegant artform. Expert calligraphy teacher Rosana Fulford will highlight the skills needed to gracefully bring pen to paper.

The inspiration for the workshop will be soldiers’ letters from the front line. Examples from the Museum’s collection will be used to stimulate creativity.

On the day, you’ll learn basic strokes, patterns and letter formation, with a particular focus on cursive script.

All tools and materials will be provided and you’ll take home a curated calligraphy kit to continue practising independently. Beginners are welcome.

This event accompanies our Shakespeare and War exhibition.
