In 2021, the National Army Museum opened an exhibition called Brothers in Arms, curated by historian and author James Holland and based on his book of the same name. It focused on the service of the Sherwood Rangers in North-West Europe during the Second World War.
Although the exhibition closed in 2022, you can still discover the story of these remarkable men and their Sherman tanks in this virtual tour led by James Holland himself.
The Sherwood Rangers finished the Second World War with more battle honours than any other single unit in the British Army. Veterans of the North Africa campaign, they were at the forefront of the fighting from D-Day on 6 June 1944 until VE Day in May 1945.
